Talking Cars 504: The Hybrid-Only Jeep Cherokee Enters Our Test Program

This SUV comes at a critical time for Jeep, and is an essential part of its lineup. Plus, our experts discuss the best way to sell a car.

Main theme: The Jeep Cherokee has always been a vital model since its introduction. While the name arrived in 1974 on a version of the Jeep Wagoneer and introduced the term "Sports Utility Vehicle," the model that really brought SUVs to the masses arrived in 1984. Now, the redesigned sixth-generation version makes history not only by being Jeep’s first hybrid model, but it’s ONLY available as a hybrid.

We purchased one anonymously from a local dealership and have been racking up the miles. Our panel discusses what works well and what could use a little more refinement.

Audience question: Is it better to trade an older car in toward a new one or sell it yourself? And what would be a good replacement for an older SUV?
