    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2018 Chevrolet Impala owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    Exterior lights (other than headlights)

"I have a line of running lights on the front of the vehicle. The line on the right front stopped working. It really wasn't an operating problem, but looked bad. The running lights are part of an entire assembly, not just bulbs. The problem was a crack in the assemby let water flood the compartment and short out the lights. The entire assembly needed to be replaced. I assumed a failure like this should have been covered by my extended warranty, but it was denied. The repair cost $1,500."

    Headlights

"The headlights totally failed and had to be replaced . These were the expensive type . Cost a good deal of money"

    Anonymous A., NY (2018 Chevrolet Impala Premier 3.6-L V6)
    Keyless entry

"One of the door handle keyless button no longer works"

Anonymous, QC (2018 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.6-L V6)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Exhaust leaks

"The engine light came on which usually indicates a problem with the exhaust system, maybe bad fuel, loose gas cap or leak in the exhaust system. It turned out the problem was a stuck open valve in the exhaust system. I received a $1,000 bill to fix the problem. I have an extended warranty on the car which covered the valve itself, but apparently did not cover the labor involved in replacing it. This is the second time I've had issues with my extended warranty not covering things I feel should be included."

    Other/unsure

"Within 12 months to date, I was informed by a shop I took it to twice in a row for routine oil changes that my dip stick was not registering any oil on the dipstick indicating that both times between oil changes that it appeared I had no oil or not enough in my engine to register as visible. Ive only taken my vehicle there those two times due to a falling out with my local Chevrolet dealership and their unprofessionalism in their service department. I had extensive and very expensive service performed on my older model 2009 Impala and EVERYTHING they serviced on it started failing again within a year of having it fixed. They were careless and would not rectify the situation. They are supposed to be GM certified and they left me feeling mortified, so therefore I felt untrustworthy from that point forward. Since ive had my 2018, I only have had it serviced at a Chevrolet dealership. I live in a rural area, so therefore, I decided to take it to another Chevrolet dealership from which I purchased the vehicle which is roughly about an hour from where I live to tell the service department exactly what the shop told me about a possible oil consumption problem. After looking my vehicle over, the other Chevrolet dealership said that they could not see any issues or any evidence of leakage or an oil consumption problem, and suggested that they had possibly used a wrong oil filter during those two oil changes that they performed and suggested that I have my oil re-changed by them and to monitor my oil from that point forward. I feel that it still might be consuming more oil than it should between oil changes. Ive had to keep a very close eye on it to ensure that there is oil in my vehicle so that it runs properly, and I can maintain the engine. with a newer car, it shouldnt be having those type of issues quite yet in my opinion, and I feel that it is unsafe and could become a very costly and expensive repair if not watched carefully."

    Anonymous A., IN (2018 Chevrolet Impala Premier 3.6-L V6)

"I don't like the windows or the ability to see all around me when I'm driving. The visibility is a big factor as the structure does not allow a driver to see enough of the road and traffic to feel really safe and confident. The whole structure is limiting and too small to see a wide view of the road and traffic."
