Used 3-Row SUVs With the Best Tested Fuel Economy
These reliable 5-year-old models achieved 20 mpg or better in our testing
If you need to carry five or more passengers and their luggage, a three-row SUV becomes a necessity. While a minivan is often the most practical choice, shoppers prefer midsized crossover SUVs. However, new models are expensive, and three-row SUVs rarely match the fuel efficiency of small or compact crossovers. To help you find a budget-friendly, efficient option, Consumer Reports’ auto experts have identified several 5-year-old, three-row SUVs that achieved 20 mpg or better in our real-world testing.
Our selections range from luxury models to efficient hybrids. Every vehicle listed performed well in our tests, and all have average or better reliability. That assessment is based on our annual Auto Surveys, in which Consumer Reports members report the exact problems they experience with their vehicles. This year, members provided data on approximately 380,000 vehicles, giving us a clear picture of how these older models hold up over time.
