While Amazon may only have a couple of days left of its Prime Day sales, Walmart’s annual summer sale runs through June 28, meaning you have until the end of the weekend to take advantage of its deals.
What’s a "deal"? Great question. At CR, a great bargain is the combination of a product’s quality and the size of its discount. (We compare the price to what it usually costs, too—not just to the listed original price.)
Whether you’re a Walmart+ member or want to order something to pick up in-store that day, Walmart can be a boon for savings compared to other retailers with similar deals. We’re even seeing some nice deals on refurbished products, including Apple iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, and Watches. You can purchase an iPhone 15 for just $387, an Apple Watch Series 11 (42mm) for $260, or a 13-inch MacBook Air for $249.
No matter where you shop, it can be difficult to tell whether something listed as a sale is actually a good discount or just the same price it always is. That’s where our work comes in. Since Consumer Reports tracks prices on everything we test, we can look at Walmart’s offerings to tell you whether a product is worth picking up or passing by.
In addition to the Walmart Deals sale, CR will track and sort through all the offers at Best Buy Tech Fest and Amazon Prime Day to find the best prices on products that have scored well in our tests. For the latest and greatest sales on highly rated products, check CR’s Deals Hub.
Headphones
If you want the low-profile fit of earbuds, but don’t like the way they plug up your ears, the Bose Ultra Opens represent a unique alternative. They hook on your ear, just above the lobe, a bit like a cuff-style earring. Our testers say they sound surprisingly good, too, once you get the placement just right. And, with nothing in your ears, it’s easy to hear the things around you with a clarity that the transparency mode of most earbuds can’t match.
While there’s nothing revolutionary about the design of Sonos’s first headphone, this elegant noise-canceling model is well-executed. The sleek, minimalist profile feels nice in your hands and actually looks flattering when sitting on your head. And, sonically, the Ace offers smooth, comforting sound and solid bass. If you’re a Sonos fan, this is a good opportunity to get the Ace at a discount.
There’s a lot to like about this over-the-ear, noise-canceling headphone. It sits second in Bose’s lineup but performs a lot like the top-of-the-line QuietComfort Ultra. The model provides sound quality that’s pleasant if not quite up to the very best headphones in this category, but the noise cancellation, as is typical of Bose, is truly superb. Since Bose devices don’t routinely receive big discounts, this deal is well worth a look.
Kitchen Products
KitchenAid Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine
We found the KitchenAid Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine impressively well-built, especially given its budget-friendly price. It’s even $40 less than it was the last time it was on sale. It may take some getting used to for beginners, but we found that it produced reliably good espresso shots. This model comes with numerous accessories, including a milk jug for steaming (the only model we evaluated that offered this).
Home Goods
The HoMedics AP-T200 has impressive performance and an attractive design, similar to the AP-C500 (also on sale). It works well on both high and low speeds and is easy to use, though it’s also a bit noisy. The major difference—this model is designed for medium rooms of 150 to 350 square feet, so it’s smaller in size with a smaller price.
A portable purifier that keeps your air clean and matches your mid-century modern design aesthetic—yes, please. Better yet, you can now save hundreds on this HoMedics AP-C500—a large-room air purifier that’s capable of keeping your home’s air clean on both high and low speeds. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running.
The petite Clorox 11020 effectively cleans your room’s air of harmful particles, whether at a high or low setting. It can perch on a tabletop or be set on the floor and doesn’t get too noisy. It does lack certain conveniences, though, like app pairing and an auto mode, but otherwise it’s a nice fit for a small space (up to 150 square feet).
Looking for an air purifier for a very large space? This AirDoctor model is rated for 650 square feet or more and is CR Recommended. It recently sold for $625, but we’re leaving it here so you can check back later in the sale for a better price. Most air purifiers are loud, and this is no exception, but it is among the quietest (relative to other models) we’ve tested at its highest speeds. It’s also better than most at removing particles at any speed, earning it a very good score overall.
Fimilo Candle Warmer Lamp
If you’re a fan of features, this lamp is for you. It’s got four different brightness settings and different color choices, and you can set three timer shut-offs for 2, 4, and 8 hours. The lamp height is adjustable, but our tester found the base to be a bit unwieldy, so it may not fit every candle. Its metal material also made spilled wax a little annoying to clean.
This humidifier is a fantastic balance of quality and price for small rooms. It’s a top-rated model; it handled every one of our tests with ease, and it has a low-water indicator so you know when to add more (and it shuts off automatically if you don’t get there in time). With great scores and a price under $50, it’s a no-brainer.
Vacuums
The Shark PowerDetect HZ4002 does an admirable job of cleaning bare floors and does almost as well on carpet. It features an auto-detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed to the surface, transitioning efficiently between the two. It can be pulled apart for compact storage, allowing it to stand on its own and take up minimal space. This model even delivers powerful suction in reverse for more efficient cleaning in both a forward and backward motion. We’ve seen it sell at lower prices this year, but this is still a pretty good discount.
This Kenmore 200 Series 81214 performs quite well in CR cleaning tests, with strong cleaning scores for carpet, bare floors, and pet hair, as well as strong suction. Negatives? Handling and noise. Differences from the 400 Series: the on/off switch is on the body, it has a different type of suction control, and there’s no telescopic wand.
The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 comes with lots of bells and whistles, including a dirt detection feature and a floor detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed based on the surface it’s vacuuming. It’s very good at sucking up debris from carpets and picking up pet hair. The vacuum can be converted into a hand vac and folded for storage.
At 8.1 pounds, the Shark Ultralight PetPro HZ702 is extremely light. It’s outstanding at picking up pet hair, cleaning edges and bare floors—though it does less well vacuuming debris from carpet. One impressive feature is that the vacuum’s top can be detached and attached to the bottom for easy storage. It also comes with an odor neutralizer to prevent bad smells from developing in the machine.
TVs
The Samsung QN55S85F is the company’s entry-level QD-OLED TV from 2025, and it performs very well in our tests for both picture quality and HDR. It also has satisfying sound. Like other Samsung OLED TVs, it supports HDR10+ but not Dolby Vision HDR, and its Tizen smart TV platform includes both Bixby and Alexa voice assistants.
Smart Home
The Google Nest Cam with Floodlight is $65 less than it was for Memorial Day. It offers impeccable video quality, strong data security, and speedy response times. Its features include activity zones to control what areas in front of the camera trigger recording, app/voice control (via Amazon Alexa, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings), and free object detection for people, animals, and vehicles. That last feature is a big deal because most competitors charge you a subscription for it. Cloud video storage and additional features require a Nest Aware subscription.
The latest Google Nest Cam (Battery) is a strong performer in our tests, offering terrific video quality, strong data security, and fast response times. It’s also one of few security cameras to give you monitoring zones, object recognition (of people, packages, animals, and vehicles), and three free hours of cloud video storage without a monthly subscription. The doorbell also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice and app control. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as facial recognition) require a Google Nest Aware subscription.
Smartwatches & Fitness Trackers
This rugged-looking (and high-performing) Samsung smartwatch is aimed at outdoors enthusiasts—and anyone who wants the absolute best of Samsung’s health- and fitness-tracking features. You get basics like sleep, workout, and heart-rate tracking, as well as more advanced features that give you insights into stress load and metabolic health. Just note that Galaxy Watches work only with Android devices.
The Galaxy Watch8 is a solid all-around pick for anyone who owns a Galaxy phone. It features a bright 1.3-inch AMOLED display and offers Samsung’s latest health, fitness, and safety features, from swimming stroke analysis to daily sleep and energy scores. The battery life is in line with most high-end smartwatches, so expect daily charging.
If you want a sleek, do-everything smartwatch that pairs seamlessly with your iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 11 is a great pick. It can do all the basics well, like tracking your sleep, workouts, steps, heart rate, and more. It also offers a few health features that the budget SE 3 doesn’t, such as hypertension monitoring, electrocardiogram readings to detect an irregular heart rhythm, and a blood-oxygen sensor.
The Versa 4 is a great fit for Fitbit fans who want a sleeker-looking smartwatch. You get a good-sized display and all the basics, from GPS-enabled workout tracking to heart rate monitoring. Plus, the battery lasted a generous period of time in CR’s testing.
If what you want is a slim, reliable fitness tracker that keeps tabs on the basics—like your sleep, step count, and heart rate—the Fitbit Inspire 3 is a good buy at this price. It also has a convenient 10-day claimed battery life.
The Fitbit Charge line has always featured great general-purpose trackers, and the Charge 6 is no exception. It’s sleek, with a 1.1-inch full-color display, making it suitable for the gym and the office. And some of its health-tracking features—like stress monitoring and an ECG (electrocardiogram) function that can alert you to irregular heart rhythms—are more on a par with a smartwatch. The Charge 6 earns excellent test scores in key categories and has more precise heart rate monitoring than its predecessor, the Charge 5. Claimed battery life for the Fitbit Charge 6 is seven days.
Tablets
If you want an iPad, this 2025 entry-level model is our pick as the best tablet for most people. It has a beautiful 10.9-inch display, 128GB of storage, and the ability to record HD video. And its battery lasts a decent amount of time in our testing, whether browsing the web or playing video.
Speakers
The JBL Flip 7 is a classic do-it-all speaker. It’s small enough to stuff into a bag, but delivers enough sound to provide background music at a barbecue. It’s IP68 water-resistant and dustproof, and the company claims you can drop it from 1 meter onto a concrete floor and it’ll keep working. Also, according to JBL, it delivers 16 hours of music on a single charge.
The JBL Xtreme 4 delivers deep bass and adequate volume even in large rooms. It also features an internal power bank that can charge other devices, and the manufacturer says the speaker is dust-resistant and water resistant to 1 meter, claims that CR didn’t test. Note that the Xtreme 4 is quite massive by portable speaker standards, at almost 12 inches long and almost 5 pounds in weight.
Soundbars
This Denon model is a 2.1-channel soundbar, though it has built-in bass drivers rather than a separate subwoofer. It supports Dolby Atmos audio but not DTS:X. However, it lacks up-firing drivers, so it relies on audio processing to deliver an impression of height. It has decent overall sound but is a fairly basic model in many ways, not surprising given its price. It has built-in Bluetooth for playing music from a mobile device.
Health and Beauty
GHD Helios Hair Dryer
The GHD Helios, while not as fast as a Drybar model or the popular Dyson dryer, still scored well in our dry-speed tests. It’s one of the loudest we tried, but it gave our testers voluminous locks. The Helios has two heat settings plus a cool shot, two speed settings, and a concentrator attachment. It also features a brushless motor, which could mean that this dryer will last longer than those without one.
