Caulk

Flex Seal Flex Caulk

Flex Seal Flex Caulk

This top-performing caulk adhered beautifully to painted wood and ceramic tiles, and was instantly impermeable to water. It stood up to freezing and hot temperatures without cracking.

DAP Kwik Seal Kitchen & Bath Adhesive Caulk

DAP Kwik Seal Kitchen & Bath Adhesive Caulk

The best feature about this caulk is that it does not require a caulk gun to dispense. In our tests, it had the second-best adhesion on painted wood and worked just as well after being exposed to extreme cold and hot temperatures.

Cleaning & Disinfecting Wipes

Method All-Purpose Cleaning Wipes

Method All-Purpose Cleaning Wipes

These thick wipes were among our favorites. Not only did they clean all surfaces well, but they were drier than most wipes, so there’s no waiting for your surfaces to dry. They feature a pleasant, pink grapefruit scent.

The Pink Stuff The Miracle Biodegradable Multi-Purpose Cleaning Wipes

The Pink Stuff The Miracle Biodegradable Multi-Purpose Cleaning Wipes

Yes, these wipes are shockingly pink; they cleaned fairly well, though we found them on the thinner side and sometimes needed to use two wipes instead of one. We recommend relying on these for more minimal cleaning tasks.

Tub O'Towels Heavy Duty Cleaning Wipes

Tub O'Towels Heavy Duty Cleaning Wipes

These wipes are large enough to use twice, cleaned up milk, honey, hot sauce, and rice messes well, and can be easily pulled from the tub they’re packaged in. This six-wipe pack from Walmart is the perfect size for keeping in the car, the back of a stroller, or for any other on-the-go messes.

Concentrated Cleaners

Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner, 2X Concentrated Formula

Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner, 2X Concentrated Formula

This classic, bright, concentrated cleaner can be used on most home surfaces. In our tests, it was especially good at lifting dirt from floors. It’s strongly scented, but if you’re looking for a bargain, it’s a solid buy, especially at 17% off.

Dish Soap

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Dish Soap

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Dish Soap

This dish soap produced rich suds and had an elevated, herbal scent like no other we tested. It is also available in an easy-to-dispense 16-ounce bottle.

Palmolive Ultra Dish Oxy Power

Palmolive Ultra Dish Oxy Power

The long-lasting suds produced by this dish soap left all our dishes clean with little effort. It’s mildly scented, easy to dispense, and didn’t leave dishes smelling like the dish soap post-wash. The formula left our hands feeling a little bit dry.

Nellie's Dish Butter

Nellie's Dish Butter

Choosing a soap bar like Nellie’s Dish Butter, which was our top choice for dish soap bars, helps you cut down on plastic waste and still get your dishes, pots, and pans squeaky clean. This one created a nice amount of suds and boasted an herbal scent that we found pleasant and not overpowering.

Dishwasher Detergent

For a middling price, Finish Powerball Ultimate dishwasher pods deliver above-average results in our tests, with excellent scores in both cleaning dishes and resisting film and mineral deposits. They also ward off water spots. They include scum-fighting enzymes, but no bleach.

These dishwasher detergent pacs earned top marks for their ability to clean dishes and resist film and discoloration. They also resist water spots caused by hard water on dishes.

Fabric Deodorizers

Zorbx Odor Remover

Zorbx Odor Remover

This was the only fabric deodorizer that helped rid fabrics of a strong, unpleasant onion odor in our lab. It’s unscented, so it doesn’t just mask odors, but eliminates them. It also did not stain any of the materials we used in testing.

Facial Tissues

Presto Ultra-Soft

Presto Ultra-Soft

This three-ply facial tissue stood out for its absorbency, but it wasn’t as strong or tear-resistant as other tissues. However, it felt soft in hand and was easy to pull out from its packaging.

Scotties Everyday Comfort

Scotties Everyday Comfort

This two-ply tissue wasn’t one of our top performers, but it is hypoallergenic and free of added fragrances, according to the manufacturer. It was also one of the easiest to remove from its box—but expect the tissue itself to be on the thinner side.

Garbage Bags

Amazon Basics Flextra Tall Kitchen Drawstring Trash Bags Unscented

Amazon Basics Flextra Tall Kitchen Drawstring Trash Bags Unscented

These bags will save you money, but they weren’t the strongest in our tests. They do, however, come in convenient packs of 50, 90, and 120.

Great Value Trash Bags

Great Value Trash Bags

Not only are these bags inexpensive, but they held up really well in our tests. They proved to be pretty strong, and it’s hard to beat their price.

Hefty Strong Tall Kitchen Bags

Hefty Strong Tall Kitchen Bags

These Hefty bags held up well against blunt objects, and you may prefer a garbage bag with a familiar name. But they lacked strong drawstrings, sides, and bottoms.

Glass Cleaners

Windex Original Glass Cleaner

Windex Original Glass Cleaner

This well-known glass cleaner left mirrors, windows, stovetops, and glass shower doors absolutely flawless in our testing. It is made with ammonia, so avoid using it on tinted windows or other surfaces that may be damaged.

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Glass Cleaner

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Glass Cleaner

If you’re looking for elevated scents in your household cleaners, this glass cleaner from Mrs.Meyer’s fits the bill. It also performed well in our tests, leaving minimal streaks on mirrors and windows.

Windex Fast Shine Foam Glass Cleaner

Windex Fast Shine Foam Glass Cleaner

This foaming glass cleaner delivers a mess-free cleaning experience with the powerful cleaning you expect from Windex. Use it to clean glass, ceramic tiles, countertops, and even appliances.

Windex Vinegar Glass Cleaner

Windex Vinegar Glass Cleaner

If you prefer cleaning with a vinegar-based product, few compare to Windex. We found it cleaned just as well as the original Windex, and it didn’t leave an intense vinegar scent behind.

Laundry Detergent, Pods, and Sheets

Persil Free & Sensitive Liquid Laundry Detergent

Persil Free & Sensitive Liquid Laundry Detergent

Persil Sensitive liquid laundry detergent is a Green Choice product, meaning it has a lower environmental and health impact due to its ingredients, certifications, and recyclable packaging. In our tests, it excelled at removing chocolate stains from fabrics. It also handled body oil, dirt, and blood very well.

Multipurpose Cleaners

Method All Purpose Cleaner

Method All Purpose Cleaner

According to this cleaner’s label, it is made with a “biodegradable formula” and can be used on counters, tile, stone, wood, and glass. Its results in our tester’s home-testing showed middle-of-the-pack results.

Mrs. Meyer's Multisurface Everyday Cleaner

Mrs. Meyer's Multisurface Everyday Cleaner

Mrs.Meyer’s Multisurface Everyday Cleaner worked well to clean up light-to-moderate messes in our testing. Its scent is light and pleasant. Our tester found that oily and greasy messes required more effort to clean than with some other multipurpose cleaners tested.

Quart Bags

Ziploc Storage Quart Bags

Ziploc Storage Quart Bags

Although hard to close, these are very sturdy quart bags, and make a great option for parents with toddlers who have a penchant for throwing their snacks. We love their stand-up bottom, which makes it easier to add foods without making a mess. These are perfect for food prep and leftovers.

Toilet Paper

Charmin Ultra Soft Forever Roll

Charmin Ultra Soft Forever Roll

This giant roll of Charmin toilet paper looks like a joke, but its performance in our tests was anything but. It’s easy to tear, abrasion-resistant, and very strong. Due to its size, it will not fit on most standard toilet paper holders.
