You don’t always have to spend hundreds to get a high-quality product. Many of the items from our tests and at-home evaluations, from kitchen items to home goods to tech products, are currently available for less than $100. We’re seeing some great offers on lower-cost products that work well and are worth your money, even when they’re not on sale (but right now they are, making them even better buys). And if you want rather than need something, you may be able to save even more toward the end of the month when retailers have Memorial Day sales. And Amazon Prime Day is coming sometime in June (exact dates have not yet been announced), which can spell even bigger savings.

To help budget-conscious shoppers, who shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality for a low price, we’re digging up all the options that are at even better prices than usual right now and score well in CR’s tests. In addition to quality, we also consider price history, so you know exactly how much you’re saving and just how good each deal really is.

Kitchen

The Ninja Single Serve Pods & Grounds PB051 dual coffee maker is perfect for indecisive coffee lovers, like myself, who sometimes want a fast cup, sometimes a fancy latte, or just a traditional drip coffee. It’s almost three machines in one: a pod coffee maker, a drip coffee maker, and a milk frother. For single-serve Keurig K-Cups, a speedy first cup is paramount, and our testers found this model to be excellent in that regard. For drip brewing, we rated performance very good, meaning the machine brewed at between 195° and 205° F for 5 or 6 minutes, the industry standard for optimal brewing and the best flavor. This Ninja model has a removable reservoir, a water filter, and an indicator to tell you when you’ll need to clean it.

Still undecided?
CR's expert guidance and unbiased reviews can help you purchase with confidence.

The large Cuisinart AIR-200 has a window and a light so you can see your food cooking, and its large six-quart capacity means there’s enough room to cook for a crowd or to air fry an entire meal. Touchscreen controls come with five cooking pre-sets, including one for frozen snacks and one for leftovers, and a toss reminder alerts you when it’s time to flip your food. The AIR-200 also comes with a generous three-year warranty.

Hair Tools

Hot Tools Pro Artist Black Gold Evolve Ionic Salon Hair Flat Iron

Hot Tools Pro Artist Black Gold Evolve Ionic Salon Hair Flat Iron

Hot Tools hair styling tools are a common sight at hair salons, and for good reason. Our evaluators found that this flat iron heated up fast and was easy to use. It has variable heat settings to give users more control, and the plates are slightly longer than most straighteners, a feature that could be useful for styling longer hair. It’s important to note that the temperature consistency isn’t reliable and could vary by as much as 20 degrees from the set temperature during use. It has a 2-hour window before it automatically shuts off, so you’ll want to remember to unplug it after every use.

Water Flossers

The Waterpik Ion Professional Cordless is $10 less than it was last month. It has a somewhat unusual design; it’s a countertop water flosser with a rather large footprint (about 6x6 inches). It’s rechargeable, so instead of a wall outlet plug, you use a magnetic USB-A cable. Waterpik claims that the flosser can last up to 4 weeks between charges.

The large opening on this product’s removable reservoir makes it quite easy to fill, and it earned top marks for ease of use. There’s one downside, though: It’s one of the noisier models in our ratings, which may bother some users. The Ion has a timer that alerts you at 30 seconds and 1 minute to let you know when to switch to another part of your mouth.

The Oral-B Water Flosser Advanced earned top marks for ease of use, both in battery charging and general operation. It offers an on-demand button, which allows you to activate the water jet only while you’re pressing a button. This flosser’s battery is particularly easy to charge; all you have to do is place it on top of the plugged-in charging unit. The device is on the quieter side, too. Its main flaw in our testing was its smaller tank capacity.

Fabric Care

Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Steam & Press with Turbo GS59X

Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Steam & Press with Turbo GS59X

The Conair GS59X does a good job evening out rumples in thin cotton dress shirts, but like most handheld steamers, it does struggle with creases. It took about 12 minutes to steam a button-up and couldn’t handle a more challenging linen shirt. This steamer scores solidly average scores in our lab tests across the board, including for steam power (16.62 grams per minute), heat time (one minute), and run time (13 minutes). The tank is relatively easy to fill, and the steamer can operate vertically and horizontally.

Floor Care

The Dirt Devil Compact Portable Spot Cleaner is a light little carpet cleaner at just 9 pounds with a full tank of solution. While the portable cleaners in our tests don’t measure up to full-sized machines in terms of their cleaning abilities, this model did well, especially when it comes to drying. It’s also one of the quieter models we tested. The tank isn’t huge (partly why the cleaner is so light), but if you’re just using it for spills and spot-cleaning, this model will do the trick.

The GorFanty 10-in-1 MultiPurpose is an excellent cleaner with a decent steam rate. It takes only 20 seconds for the steam mop to produce steam, and its steam can last for around 10 minutes on its maximum setting. We like that you can adjust the length of the mop to accommodate people of different heights. The mop comes with plenty of accessories, including attachments for cleaning tile grout, clothes, furniture, windows, and carpets.

Ice Baths

Pod Company Pro IcePod 2.0

Pod Company Pro IcePod 2.0

This portable ice bath from Pod Company is now $20 less than I’ve ever seen, making it an even better deal than usual. It’s a great option if you’re thinking of investing in something like this to keep at home. In our evaluations, it was easy to set up and take apart. It is smaller than the comparable Cold Pod XL (which costs a bit more), but otherwise, the two are very similar. So it may be better suited for smaller individuals. For example, one of our evaluators was around 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds and found this one to be a bit cramped compared to the other model. That said, if you don’t mind close quarters and like the price to test out ice baths at home, this could be just what you’re looking for.

Tech

If you want a pair of noise-canceling earbuds at a budget price, check out the Soundcore Space A40s. The bass packs some wallop, and the overall sound is warm, which makes the A40s pleasant to listen to over a long period of time. The noise cancellation earns top marks from CR’s testers, too—there’s even a transparency mode that allows you to monitor your surroundings when you’re out running or walking down a busy street. The discount isn’t steep, but these headphones are a serious bargain even at their normal street price.

The main thing that the Canon PIXMA TS7720, an all-in-one inkjet, has going for it is its price. It’s been selling for $99 for a long time, but now it’s discounted significantly, making it a great time to buy (it was recently $20 less, but this is still a nice discount). The real street price is closer to $100 than the original $150, but you’re still getting nice savings here. Our estimate of ink cost is $68 a year, pretty typical for a cartridge printer. The lab results it turns in are decent, not extraordinary.

Apple Pencil (USB-C)

Like the Apple Pencil Pro, the Apple Pencil USB-C is generally accurate and smooth, making it a good choice for sketching and note-taking. But it’s slightly less sensitive than the Apple Pencil Pro and less responsive than the Gen 2, which makes it somewhat harder to control. It offers palm rejection (so your hand won’t interfere while drawing) and tilt support, which allows for realistic shading and pencil-like strokes.  This model doesn’t support pressure sensitivity, meaning the thickness of your lines won’t vary based on how hard you press down. That can be a drawback for digital artists, but many creative apps allow you to manually adjust brush size or weight, so pro-level work is still possible, albeit with more manual input. The other trade-off is that the stylus charges and pairs via the USB-C port rather than the wireless charging and pairing of the Pro or 2nd Gen model. It can attach to the side of your iPad for easy storage, though.

Smart Home

The Ring Battery Doorbell (2024 Release) is Ring’s entry-level battery doorbell, and it’s $20 less than it was last month. It performs well in our tests, offering especially speedy response times for alerts and decent video quality. Its features include motion zones, schedules for alerts, and voice/app control via Amazon Alexa. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as person detection) require a Ring Home subscription.

Humidifiers

The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room up to 505 square feet, which earns it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations too. It has a variety of features, including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas. It’s currently available for the best price we’ve seen.

This humidifier, rated for small rooms, is a fantastic balance of quality and price. It’s plenty capable, and it has an indicator when the water level is low, so it’s easy to know when you need to add more (and it shuts off automatically if you don’t get there in time).

This was $25 less earlier in the year, so the price may fall again for Memorial Day weekend.

Pets

Costway Petsite 3 in 1 Pet Stroller

Costway Petsite 3 in 1 Pet Stroller

The PetSite 3-in-1 is multifunctional, easy to assemble and fold, lightweight, and sturdy—and it’s at the lowest price we’ve seen. It’s also really versatile for travel. It serves as both a car seat and portable carrier, complete with a carrying strap. It has a maximum capacity of 33 pounds, so you could potentially fit two small animals, and the mesh top makes it easy to keep an eye on them. Our evaluator reported that it was easy to assemble, and the stroller moved easily, even on bumpier surfaces.

Outdoor

Simple Modern XL Getaway Bag

Simple Modern XL Getaway Bag

This bag fits five beach towels, one water bottle, two bottles of sunscreen, a hardcover book, four small packs of pretzels, and sunglasses. The Simple Modern beach bag is made of soft EVA material and has the thickest hand straps of all the bags we tested. The handles folded backward and forward easily and never got twisted.

This Black+Decker BEBL7000 leaf blower has a well-performing built-in vacuum function, making it easy to gather leaves into the included collection bag for composting or easy discarding. The bag connects using a flexible tube, making it easy to handle and maneuver. It’ll move leaves with very respectable efficiency (up to 250mph), and leave little impact on your ears and neighbors. You’ll have multiple speeds at your disposal to tackle any job.
